The Department of Engineering Physics came into existence along with the establishment of the institution in the year 1979.The department is currently headed by Dr. Chitra Sankar who is assisted by a team of well qualified and dedicated staff members.

The Physics department has a staff of 7 members of which 4 members have more than 20 years of teaching experience. The students are given individual attention in the lab classes. The results in both theory and practical examinations have been consistently good.

Among the members of the staff Dr(Mrs).Chitra Sankar has a Ph.D degree from I.I.T., Chennai and has a vast experience of research both in India and outside, at reputed laboratories. She had been in Canada for nearly 6 years.
